Monday 13th April

A dry start to the day and the sun did come out eventually, just as people were finishing. An easy 8 miles to the cars so that everyone could get off home.A short part of the paddle was on tidal water at Earith, but the tide was high and at slack water, so there was no current.

Breaking Camp for the last time Our younger members. Taking the canoe for a walk To the get in. Despite the rain, the river fell by 8 inches during the night
On to the real fens. Flat! Disused barge Early morning reflections By pass the Pike & Eel
First lock of the day, but the sluice got stuck. Two opted to portage, but sluice worked and we overtook them. Very flat on the tidal stretch Approaching our only manned lock of the weekend.
Just to make sure you go the right way. The Old West river to Ely And the last get out!
